Change Kiosk Terminal RFID Scan Duration

Use the following steps to change a kiosk terminal RFID scan duration. The scan duration controls how long the RFID reader is on after a vehicle is detected. Adjusting this setting can help reduce cross-reads.

Note: The scan duration can similarly be changed from the Hardware panel on cashier terminals that have an RFID reader.

Available Values

Available values are from 0 to 90. Use the following example settings as a guide when adjusting the duration.

  • 0: Disable the duration timeout. The RFID reader will scan as soon as a vehicle is detected and remain on until it receives a valid RFID tag. This can increase the potential for cross-reads, but decrease the potential for the reader to not activate.
  • 5: This is the default setting. The RFID reader will scan for 5 seconds after a vehicle is detected.
  • 90: This is the longest duration timeout. The RFID reader will scan for 90 seconds after a vehicle is detected. This can decrease the potential for cross-reads, but increase the potential for the reader to not activate.
