Patheon R50 Release Notes
Patheon release 50 includes the following enhancements:
- Wash subscription renewals that receive a Visa category 1 decline response (Do not retry, which is returned for accounts that never existed or have been closed (for example, the payment card was reported lost or stolen)) for sites that use CardConnect as their payment card processor are no longer resubmitted for processing. This can help reduce a site's payment processing costs by eliminating additional fees for payment re-submissions that will never be approved, as well as reduce churn by providing an opportunity for the customer to update their payment card.
- Employee role POS permissions now include the ability to control access to add or remove a discount for a customer's wash plan from the cashier terminal. Sites can use this to secure access to plan discounts for cashier terminal staff.
- Wash plan subscription and gift card configuration now includes a visibility setting that can be used to make the product only accessible via a direct link to the product in the Essential Web Application (EWA) customer app. Organizations can use this to create exclusive promotional opportunities that are visible only to EWA customer app users who receive or discover the direct link. This can enhance marketing flexibility by driving targeted traffic to special offers, increasing conversion rates, and improving the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. It also allows for a more controlled promotion environment, ensuring that certain offers are exclusive to specific user groups.
- A single-page purchase workflow for wash plan and PayGo pass purchases in the EWA customer app replaces the multi-page, wizard-based workflow available in previous releases. This streamlined workflow enhances the user experience by minimizing purchase time, improving customer satisfaction, increasing conversion rates, and reducing cart abandonment.
- Wash subscription members can now suspend and reactivate their plan from the EWA customer app. Organizations can use this feature to help reduce churn and retain wash plan members by providing them with more control over their subscriptions.
- General bug fixes.

Enhancements
POS - Cashier
Employee role permissions now include the ability to control the ability to add or remove a customer wash plan discount from the cashier terminal
- The Customer account access (POS > Customers) employee role permission now controls the ability to apply or remove a plan discount at a cashier terminal.
POS - EWA Customer App
A single-page purchase workflow for wash subscription plans and PayGo wash pass purchases in the EWA customer app is now available
- The multi-page, wizard-based workflow for wash subscription plan and PayGo wash pass purchases in the EWA customer app in previous releases is replaced with a more efficient, streamlined single-page purchase workflow.
Wash subscription members can now suspend and resume their plan from the EWA customer app
- Wash subscription members can now suspend their plan (and select a date to automatically resume it) from the EWA customer app. This assigns a Suspending status to the plan, and prevents the customer from using the plan or being charged for the plan. The plan will automatically resume on the date the customer selects, or they can then manually resume the plan from the EWA customer app at any time. Organizations can enable/disable this feature in the Patheon Portal E-Commerce panel.
Organizations can now configure promotional gift cards and wash plans that are only available to EWA customer app users via a direct link
- Organizations can use this to create exclusive promotional gift cards or wash plans that are visible only to EWA customer app users who receive the direct link. When configured, the gift card or wash plan isn't available or visible from cashier terminals and kiosk terminals. Important: The direct link to the EWA setting for gift cards is only available for Fixed Price type gift cards. It is not available for Open Price or Complementary type gift cards.
Wash Subscriptions
Wash subscription renewals that receive a Visa category 1 decline response for sites that use CardConnect as their payment card processor are no longer resubmitted for processing
- The customer can continue to use their subscription for the duration of their grace period. The customer will be prompted to update their card-on-file at unattended terminals, and site staff will be prompted to update the customer's card-on-file at attended terminals. If the customer updates their card during the grace period, renewal attempts will resume.
