Patheon R72 Release Notes

Patheon release 72 includes the following enhancements:

  • Sites can now configure supported attended terminals to operate with or without a cash drawer, while separately controlling whether cash tender is allowed, giving operators more flexibility to prevent unauthorized cash drawer use without blocking lane activity or disabling supported sales workflows.
  • Patheon Portal users can now remain signed in during active work sessions, helping reduce interruptions caused by automatic logouts when the previous session token expired.
  • Cashiers can now void House Account purchase transactions that include discounts, making it easier to correct transactions and return funds when needed.
  • Kiosk diagnostic screens now show clearer device status details, firmware/application version information, and available error reason messaging to help site teams troubleshoot peripheral issues faster.
  • Sites can now make Ticket Books available for purchase through supported e-commerce platforms, giving customers an easy way to buy, access, share, and redeem ticket codes off-site.
  • Kiosk membership purchase flows can now prompt customers for an email address and separate promotional messaging consent, helping sites collect better customer contact information for marketing while keeping the plan purchase experience clear and consistent.
  • Sites can now offer customers a discounted plan change during the Essential Web Application (EWA) cancellation flows, helping encourage members to stay subscribed by accepting a downsell offer.
  • Sites using Split Dial can now prompt customers to update saved cards tied to an inactive processor during cashier terminal and kiosk recharges, helping operators move more customers to CardConnect tokens while reducing reliance on older processor credentials.
  • Reports now include performance and security enhancements that help prevent large report requests from impacting system resources while making key financial and transaction reports faster and more reliable to use.
  • Sites can now generate a complimentary gift card through the Transactional API, helping operators and ecommerce integrations issue customer gift card value programmatically while enforcing configured card limits.
  • Essential Web Application (EWA) plan cards now show the full regular price for fixed reload date plans, helping customers better understand ongoing plan pricing before purchase while still calculating the correct prorated amount at checkout.
  • Patheon Data API customer responses have been updated to include newer customer-related data, helping integrations more accurately connect customers with their consumers, plans, gift cards, prepaid codes, and coupons.
  • Cash Balance permissions for cashier terminals now allow wash owners to let employees enter cash balances and cash drops without giving them access to edit ending balances, helping reduce the risk of unauthorized cash adjustments.

Enhancements

API

Complimentary gift cards can now be generated through the Transactional API

  • Patheon's Transactional API now supports complimentary gift card generation for customers. API users can request a list of complimentary gift card products that are active for ecommerce, including key details such as the gift card ID and maximum allowed value. A complimentary gift card can then be generated by providing the receiving customer, the complimentary gift card product, and the value to assign to the card. If the requested value exceeds the maximum configured for that gift card, Patheon returns an error and does not create the card. When a complimentary gift card is created successfully, Patheon creates the appropriate transaction, line items, and line item journals, links the card to the customer, and marks the card as not voidable.

Customer DataAPI endpoints now include expanded customer, asset, and plan details

  • Patheon's Customer DataAPI endpoints have been updated to provide a more complete view of customer information for connected systems and integrations. Customer records can now include related consumer information, making it easier for integrated tools to understand which consumers are connected to a customer account. The update also supports customer-owned items, such as purchased gift cards, prepaid codes, and generated coupons, so these items can be more accurately tied back to the correct customer. Plan information returned through the API has also been expanded to include additional pricing details, helping integrations display and use customer plan data more consistently.

House Accounts

Discounted house account purchases can now be voided

  • If a house account purchase includes a discount and later needs to be voided, cashiers can now void the applicable products from the transaction instead of being blocked by the presence of a discount. When the void is completed, Patheon creates the appropriate void transaction and related transaction records, helping ensure the reversal is accurately reflected for reporting and accounting purposes.

Patheon Portal

Active Patheon Portal sessions can now stay signed in longer

  • Patheon Portal now supports refreshed user sessions, allowing active Patheon Portal users to continue working without being unexpectedly signed out when the original login session reaches its token expiration time. This update helps reduce workflow interruptions for owners, managers, and staff who spend extended time in Patheon Portal completing operational tasks, reviewing information, or managing site configuration.

Payments

Sites can now prompt customers to update payment cards associated with an inactive processor

Peripherals

Kiosk diagnostics now provide more detailed peripheral status information

  • Patheon kiosk diagnostics have been enhanced to make it easier for operators to understand why supported peripherals may be showing as Disconnected, Error, Offline, or Degraded. Diagnostic screens now include a more standardized device header with status information that matches Quick Status, along with firmware or application version details where applicable. Supported devices can also display available error reason messages, giving sites more context without needing to rely only on service logs or peripheral router status. Additionally, RFID reader diagnostics now provide a more guided testing experience, including live reader activity with time stamps, clearer connected/error indicators, automatic enablement while viewing the screen, and improved setting controls. Gate diagnostics now include additional firmware details, a critical device indicator, and a restart option where supported.

POS - Cashier

Sales panel access can now remain available when an attended terminal is configured without a cash drawer

  • Patheon now supports attended terminal operation when no cash drawer is configured. When the Cash Drawer setting is disabled, staff can still access the sales panel and continue processing supported activity. Terminals configured without a cash drawer can still support cash transactions when cash tender is enabled. In this setup, Patheon records cash activity using an alternate cash repository instead of a physical cash drawer, allowing operators to use options such as a cash belt, cash box, or another approved cash storage location while still tracking cash operations in the system. A new Allow Cash Tender toggle has also been introduced to control cash support on terminals. When this toggle is turned off, cash-related functionality is disabled for the terminal. When it is turned on, cash transactions can be supported based on the terminal's configuration, including configurations that use an alternate cash repository instead of a cash drawer.

Ending balance edits can now be controlled with a separate cashier terminal permission

  • Patheon now includes a separate cashier terminal permission for editing ending balances on the Cash Balance panel. Employees can still be given access to enter starting balances, cash drops, and ending balances as part of their shift responsibilities, while the ability to edit an ending balance after entry can be limited to approved roles. By default, the Edit Ending Balance permission is available to Patheon Administrators and Shift Managers, and it can also be managed for custom roles. If a user does not have this permission, the edit option is hidden, helping sites better protect cash reporting accuracy and reduce opportunities for improper balance changes.

POS - EWA Customer App

Plan change promotions can now include a discount

  • Patheon now supports applying a discount when a customer accepts a "change plan" promotion in the EWA. When a plan cancellation promotion is configured with both Change Plan and Apply Discount actions, customers who attempt to cancel can be presented with an offer to switch to another plan and receive the configured discount beginning with the next full reload period. The offer displays the new plan details and pricing, including how the discount applies across the eligible billing periods.

Fixed reload date plans now show full pricing on the Buy page

  • For plans configured with a fixed reload date, the EWA Buy page now displays the full first-period price on the plan card and in the plan details modal instead of showing a prorated amount. This gives new customers a clearer view of the plan's regular reload pricing when browsing available plans, especially when a site reloads memberships on a specific day of the month. The checkout summary page continues to calculate and display the correct prorated amount for the customer's initial purchases, preserving the existing billing behavior. If the full first-period price matches the next payment period, the periods may be combined using the existing display logic.

POS - Kiosk

Kiosk plan purchases can now collect customer email addresses with a separate consent step

  • Patheon now supports a dedicated email entry screen during kiosk plan purchases. Sites can configure whether the email screen appears in Patheon Portal, and whether customers are allowed to skip it when email collection is optional. The kiosk email screen includes email-format validation, commonly used email domain shortcuts, clear/backspace controls, and support for updating the customer's existing email address when needed. The mobile phone setup has also been streamlined by removing consent text from that screen, and promotional consent has been moved to its own dedicated consent screen. When Promotional Messaging Opt-in is enabled, customers are presented with a separate consent step that includes the opt-in text and an "I Agree" checkbox. This makes the customer flow easier to follow while helping operators capture email and consent information more cleanly during ARM plan purchases.

Reports

Financial and transaction reports are now faster

  • Patheon reports have been updated to improve performance, security, and overall usability for several paginated reports. In Transaction Report V1, the Customer filter has been changed from a dropdown list to a text field, and in Transaction Report V2, both the Customer and Customer Email filters have been changed from dropdown lists to text fields, preventing the reports from loading very large customer lists each time the page opens. Report requests are also now limited to a maximum one-year date range, helping protect reporting performance and reduce the chance that an accidentally broad request affects other users or connected systems. Additional security improvements were made to the Device Cash Report and Plan Customer Detail Report so selected terminals and plans are sent using secure IDs instead of name text, helping prevent errors caused by special characters and improving protection against unsafe report parameters.

Ticket Books

Ticket books can now be sold through e-commerce channels

  • Patheon now supports ticket book sales through e-commerce channels, including supported mobile and Transactional API experiences. Owners and managers can activate ticket books for an e-commerce site from Patheon Portal when creating or editing a ticket book, as long as the ticket book is also active for the related physical site. Customers can then browse available ticket books, purchase them using a new payment card or an existing card on file, and receive a set of generated ticket codes assigned to their customer account. Purchased ticket book codes can be retrieved for display in customer-facing experiences and redeemed at supported cashier terminals and kiosk terminals, making it easier to sell multi-use wash packages beyond the physical site.

Resolved Issues

Data Migration

  • An issue where 3rd-party prepaid code migration could fail when duplicate codes were not normalized consistently, such as mixed-case and uppercase versions of the same code bypassing duplicate validation, is resolved.
  • An issue where license plate recognition (LPR) migration could add an incorrect license plate value to a customer's transaction history instead of displaying the customer's actual license plate is resolved.

Employees

  • An issue where filtering Employees > Management by a specific site and role could show only employees assigned to "All" sites while excluding employees assigned to the selected site and role is resolved.

Patheon Portal

  • An issue where flows could not be published when customer notifications were disabled, including flows using the new SMS prompt functionality, is resolved.

POS - Cashier

  • An issue where quickly scanning multiple barcodes on the cashier terminal sales panel could cause the sale to freeze and prevent users from completing or canceling a gift card or prepaid sale is resolved.
  • An issue where scanning a UPC barcode for a lobby item on the cashier terminal sales panel could fail to the cart and cause the barcode scanner to stop working properly is resolved.

Products

  • An issue where the Site Level Override icon did not display correctly in product previews, making it difficult to tell whether a site-level product override was active without opening the product editor, is resolved.

Receipts

  • An issue where viewing signature images on recent plan purchase receipts could show a "Refresh Data" error in Patheon Portal or cashier terminals instead of displaying the receipt signature correctly is resolved.

Reports

  • An issue where the Device Cash Report could omit cash entries made while hardware was offline and show only one starting or ending balance entry per day, even when multiple entries were recorded, is resolved. Cash drop visibility in the report and Cash Balance tab has also been corrected so teams can better review cash activity throughout the day.
  • An issue where voided WashCAP sales could incorrectly report as a House Account receivable value, including under an unknown account, instead of appearing consistently as voided WashCAP sales across reports is resolved.

Wash Subscriptions

  • An issue where ended customer plans could store an incorrect timezone offset on the CustomerPlan record, causing the plan status date offset to differ from the related transaction's completed date offset, is resolved.
